Counseling

The first thing I’ll recommend for more severe troubles Is counseling because I am not a professional, and someone who is trained in helping people defeat these things is far more likely to be a reliable resource for your individual needs. Although its not ideal for some, counselors can also provide an outside perspective based on your individual experience with the issue.

Practice/Maintain Self Love

Disrupted self-image can be both a major cause and/or side effect of an eating disorder. Specifically when it comes to being the cause, one this is one of my best pieces of advice for you. When I say practice and maintain self love, it doesn't mean the typical confidence and looks. I mean both doing things that fill you with happiness and spending more time with yourself in every way. Re find your confidence. dress up in your free time, spend extra time on your makeup or practice and try new looks and ideas in your free time. Allow yourself and PRIORITIZE the space to find self love again. Your body is your vessel- everything you do, every decision you make, every emotion you feel, effects the way your body functions. So be kind to yourself for the sake of your body. You will be amazed by the effects of simply changing your emotional attitude, no matter what type of eating disorder you may be struggling with.

Diet Monitoring

Depending on whatever it is you struggle with- this is something that definitely helped me personally, and I do believe its something that could help many others. I'm personally a big list maker and planner, I love to have things organized and have something physical that I can take out and look at to be able to process and understand a situation.

Get yourself a cheap little note book that you can keep with you, in your car, or at home. Even an app on your phone (I personally love google keep for things like this). First, make some sort of ideal diet plan considering what you know about yourself. It doesn't have to be professional, it doesn't have to be deeply researched and analyzed unless you want it to be, but just create a goals list of the way YOU want to be treating your body. Next keep track of everything you eat in a day, mark it with the date each day, and do it for as long as it takes to see progress. You can try it for a week, a month, as long as you want. The point of it is to provide your own resource to look at and see the bigger picture rather then the day to day perspective, while also in a way making a promise to yourself to take the steps towards helping yourself.

Body Nourishment

As I mentioned previously, your body is your vessel- everything you do, every decision you make, every emotion you feel, effects the way your body functions. (Practice/Maintain Self Love). If an eating disorder gets too severe, you can lose a lot of important nutrients and wind up with serious, potentially life long health issues. The best thing you can do for yourself when your struggling is always at least prioritize getting your body as much water as possible, use vitamins, supplements or teas, just make sure your body is getting some form of healthy fuel.

Physical Activity

When I say physical activity- I don't necessarily mean working out. Although that can definitely be beneficial, just a bit more extreme. I mean simply making sure you're getting out and doing something every day. Laziness and boredom have a huge part in many eating disorders. Moving your body physically helps get the inner workings moving efficiently as well. It's definitely okay to have lazy days every once in a while, but make sure you know you're always doing what's best for yourself.
