Counseling:

The first thing I’ll recommend for more severe mental troubles Is counseling because I am not a professional, and someone who is trained in helping people defeat these things is far more likely to be a reliable resource for your individual needs. When it comes to anxiety, simply having someone to talk to is very beneficial. Counselors can also help provide an outside perspective on solutions to certain problems.

Deep Breathing:

This practice works great anytime, anywhere. When you are feeling anxious take a few moments to focus on your breathing. A huge cause and side effect of anxiety is lack of breath which only causes less oxygen to the brain causing the problem to worsen. Take deep breaths in and out until you are able to breath in for 5 seconds, hold it for 3, breath out for 5, and repeat. When you are at that point do it 3 times over and I guarantee you will fell 1000x better.

Meditation:

By far the most effective method of getting through mental struggles I've come across is meditation. Spending time focusing on your breathing, hanging out inside the place where the issue lies, and coming to peace through self awareness. It will bring you clarity and relaxation, as well as a method of learning your own mental function so your more able to condition yourself and know what type of assistance you truly need.

There are two types of meditation you can use: Guided and Instrumental.

Guided meditation involves a calming voice to instruct the process and create the vision, while instrumental gives you all the power in where you go and what you meditate on. For a beginner, I recommend starting with guided because it allows someone to escort you through your journey and advise you what specifically to be aware of on the way. For those who have meditated for longer periods before or used meditation as a resource before, Instrumental might be more suitable so you can go where you need to and find the answers only you have access to.

Below are a few guided and instrumental meditations that I've used specific to anxiety relief as well as a first time practice link for beginners.

Problem Solving:

The most productive and effective way to cure your anxiety is to dig deep and solve the problem at hand to the best of your ability, whatever it takes. From the smallest things to having social anxiety over a phone call, to something much more complicated and deep, its all just one small part of your life. Getting whatever is causing the issue dealt with and keeping that exact mindset about it is sure to have you feeling more at ease in the end, even if you have to take it one step at a time. Progression is growth.

Spending Time Outdoors:

This is my favorite and most used method of relieving my anxiety. I included it towards the end because it isn't easily accessible when you have things going on, but if you have the chance, test this one out and let me know how it works for you. Nature has so many healing properties, and when things are getting intense and hard to handle going for a drive to the woods, or literally just getting out somewhere where there's trees or maybe a river. It gives you clarity and a chance to process a route of solution as well as calming your shocked nerves.

Animal Therapy:

Another very effective method, and another personal favorite of mine. If you already have a pet you understand how much they genuinely come to mean to you. Having a pet provides you with a constant support system that works both ways. In return for you providing them with love and a happy life, they will be there for you in any manner they possibly can. If you are feeling anxious, spend some time with them and maybe even talk to them about what's on your mind. Their confused looks will make you laugh as well as providing you with relief from the overwhelming feelings.
